Medical Benefits

We now have four (4) healthplans from which to choose – all focused on delivering robust benefits with affordable options – with two news plans, including the Value EPO and HDHP.

Value EPO Highlights

HDHP Highlights

With four medical plans available and costs changing in every category, it’s more important than ever to review the plan choices below and use the Comparison Tool on the Forum to help you decide which is best for you.

The first two present a comparison of three options: Community Care Signature HMO; Community Care Value EPO; and Community Core PPO. The final two present costs for the Community High Deductible Health Plan (HDHP).

Dental Benefits

For 2024, you can choose between Delta Care DHMO and the Delta Dental PPO in order to best prepare for the dental needs of you and your family. Preventative dental care is covered at 100%, with no cost to you.

Delta Dental PPO Highlights:

  • Preventative care covered even after maximum costs reached.
  • SmileWay benefits for those with chronic conditions such as lupus, cancer, diabetes or rheumatoid arthritis that may need extra cleanings or periodontal care.

Vision Benefits

Two vision benefits plans are available to provide clear-eyed direction to meet your needs. Both plans encourage preventative care but differ in coverage, copays, and frame allowance when purchasing corrective eye wear.

  • VSP Members and families have access to exclusive member extras including discount pricing on hearing aids through TruHearing.

Prescription Drug Benefits

Like other medical costs, pharmacy costs are also increasing in all plans, but by using generic prescriptions when available, you can help keep your out of pocket costs to a minimum.

Log into your Medimpact account to check your medications prices, and remember, a Healthcare Flexible Spending account can help offset the costs with pre-tax funds. Be sure to study changes in the cost comparison chart before you choose your health plan.

Prescription Drug Benefit Highlights:

  • Generic: You pay the lowest copay.
  • Brand-name formulary: You pay coinsurance.
  • Brand-name non-formulary: You pay the highest coinsurance percentage.
  • Download the MedImpact Mobile App to review your medications, check the costs of medications, and to learn more!

Flexible Spending Accounts

With a Flexible Spending Account, you can pay healthcare or day care costs with pre-tax money through a paycheck deduction. This year we’re moving from Navia to BenePass and adding an option for a limited purpose FSA that can be paired with a Health Savings Account and used for dental and vision costs only.

FSA Plan Highlights:

  • Annual enrollment is required.
  • Flexible Spending Accounts do not automatically roll over.
  • As the funds are used, a mobile app provides an easy option to snap a picture of the receipt for submission, as required by IRS guidelines.
  • New FSA card from BenePass available in January.
  • Keep your old Navia FSA card for hold over care during the first-of-the-year grace period.

Health Savings Account

A Health Savings Account (HSA) is a triple tax-free account that can be used for qualified medical expenses. It is triple tax-free because your contributions, interest and earnings from investments, and withdrawals from the account are not subject to regular income and payroll taxes. To be eligible, you must be enrolled in an HDHP Plan, not enrolled in Medicare and you cannot be claimed as a dependent on someone else’s tax return.

HSA Highlights:

  • IRS 2024 contribution limits
    • Employee only: $4,150
    • Family: $8,300
  • Money is available as you deposit it
  • Balance may be rolled over from year to year and invested
  • Special tax rules apply and contributions are prohibited after age 65
